Three publications on espionage from AIVD and MIVD

The AIVD and the MIVD have published three brochures about the risks of espionage. These are: Espionage in the Netherlands, Espionage when travelling abroad and Digital espionage. The publications are primarily aimed at business people and civil servants who may come into contact with information that could be of interest to other countries. One of the topics covered by the brochures is foreign intelligence service methods.

Espionage is as relevant now as it has ever been. Many foreign intelligence services are interested in the political, military and economic developments in our country. The AIVD and MIVD find that the damage caused by foreign intelligence services is considerable. That is why the services want to provide information to the people and organisations that may be at risk. Espionage can take place via people in our own country or during a journey abroad, but it is increasingly common for information to be gathered digitally via computer hacking.
